Evdokia Borisovna Pasko is a “Night Witch” from Kyrgyzstan.

From May 1942 to the end of the war she served as a navigator of a squadron of the 46th Guards Night Bomber Aviation Regiment. She made 790 combat sorties, including 10 special missions, total flight time was 1220 hours, dropped more than 100 tons of bombs.

“Our salvation was this: the Germans always calculated the speed more than what came out in the end, so they often miscalculated. So they couldn’t aim at us. I mean the anti-aircraft guns. They counted on a higher speed than we were flying”, – recalled Evdokia Borisovna.

On October 26, 1944 the pilot was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the medal “Gold Star”.

At the end of 1945 in the rank of Guards senior lieutenant she was dismissed to the reserve. She graduated from the Moscow State University’s Faculty of Mechanics and completed her postgraduate studies. For 33 years she worked as a senior teacher at the Moscow Higher Technical School.
